spooky? [ April 27, 2005, 12:30 am ]

i dreamed last night (or this morning) that holly came into the gym and told us that she'd had the baby. she was joking about "(baby name) just didn't want to come out!" it was a girl, and she named it jessica or jasmine or jocelyn or something else with a J and an S sound.

while i was driving to the gym this afternoon, i thought a little about my family and their freaking weird dreams and decided i had better ask someone as soon as i got there.

i was partially right. holly indeed had the baby this morning, within a few hours of the time i was dreaming about it, but it was a boy. it was also a revoltingly easy birth much like her first two kids, according to sheryl who along with janie and kate i think have always hated holly just a little bit for popping them out like well-greased little eggs, even tho' this kid was over nine pounds and according to holly has a monstrous head.

i feel like i can release a little held-in breath now that she's birthed the "demon seed" safely. after they've had two miscarriages, it's hard to sit patiently through nine months of someone's pregnancy, knowing how much they want the squirming little bundle of ick.

and of course, now that i've had the pre-requisite premonitory (?) dream, we all know that i am indeed part of my family. while it was kind of cool, i ask the powers that be to please keep my dead relatives out of my dreams and my home, not to make any tables levitate in my presence, and never make me sleep in the scary room at my parents house. there are stories i could tell about my mother's side of the family, right down to her and my sister, but i would sound like a crackpot, and if my own mother hadn't been part of them, i would certainly laugh at anyone else who told them. on that note, i wish never to take part in any of this fun psychic stuff again.
